Halogen Free Cables & Wire
Extensive use of wires and cables in all fields and special environmental conditions has led to the emergence of new requirements for granules used in the wire and cable industry. One of the most important features of raw materials is that they must be Halogen Free.
Halogens are non-metallic elements that produce toxic gases when exposed to fire.
Halogens are 17th group in the periodic table consisting of five chemically related elements: fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), and astatine (At).
The most important tests of Halogen Free cables are smoke density, flame emission, pH and conductivity, oxygen index, heat index, and fluorine test.
The production structure of Halogen Free wires and cables is similar to the production structure of low voltage wires and cables, but with the main difference that it does not use raw materials with halogenated properties.
It is also possible for customers to use mica tape to increase the temperature tolerance of wires and cables up to 750 ° C.
Production standard for cables in Iran is national standard 3569-1 (equivalent to IEC 60502-1 international standard) and for wires is BS EN 50525-3-31.
